The program is designed to provide students with the fundamental skill sets needed to improve in the field of fine art. We will cover topics including anatomy, structure, planes, perspective, composition, color theory, and light theory.
We will explore the structure and form of the human body. We will look at how the body is composed and how its forms are constructed. We will analyze the body in action and how it moves, as well as the anatomy of the face, hands, and feet. We will also discuss how to create realism in artwork through attention to anatomical details.
We will learn the basic principles of composition and how to apply them to artwork. We will discuss elements such as line, shape, texture, color, and value. We will also explore how to create a unified composition by using balance, movement, and contrast. Finally, we will practice creating dynamic compositions that draw the viewer into the work.
We will learn the fundamentals of one- and two-point perspective. We will explore how to create the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional surface, and we will practice creating accurate representations of three-dimensional space. We will also learn how to apply perspective to figure drawing and to still life compositions.
We will discuss the properties of color, such as hue, value, and saturation. We will explore how to mix and blend colors, and how to use color to create mood and atmosphere. We will also practice creating color combinations and color harmonies, as well as how to use color to create the illusion of light and shadows.
we will discuss the properties of light and how to capture light in artwork. We will explore how to use light and shadow to create depth and atmosphere in a painting or drawing. We will also practice creating the illusion of light in our artwork, and how to use light to create a sense of realism.
We will discuss the basic principles of structure and form. We will explore how to develop a solid understanding of the structure of the human body and how to create the illusion of form through line, shape, and plane. We will also discuss how to develop successful drawings and paintings from a basic understanding of structure and form.
We will practice working with a limited palette. We will explore how to mix grays and shades, and how to use complementary colors to create contrast. We will also practice creating color harmonies, and how to use color to create atmosphere in a painting or drawing..
We will create vivid and dynamic compositions. We will experiment with color combinations and explore how to create the illusion of light and shadows. We will also practice creating depth and texture through judicious use of color.
We will practice creating color studies from still life compositions. We will explore how to convey the form of an object and how to render light and shadows. We will also practice creating the illusion of depth in a painting through color and value.
We will practice creating accurate representations of the human form. We will explore the differences between skin tones, and how to mix colors to create lifelike skin. We will also practice creating features such as eyes, noses, and mouths, and how to make the face more expressive through color.
We will practice working with anatomical accuracy. We will explore how to create dynamic poses and masterful lines. We will also practice rendering light and shadows, and creating expressive gestures.
We will practice creating detailed drawings of the human body. We will explore how to create accurate representations of the human form and how to use line, shape, and value to create realistic drawings. We will also practice rendering structures such as muscles, tendons, and bones.
